About this visa
The offshore partner visa is for spouses and de facto partners who apply from outside the country to join their partner. Like the onshore version, it is granted in two stages.
You are first granted a provisional visa (309), which lets you enter and live in the country, and later the permanent visa (100) once the requirements are met.
The core of the case is the same: proving a genuine, continuing relationship with an eligible sponsor, supported by clear and consistent evidence.
